Redmi announces revolutionary fast charging technology
Redmi, a subsidiary of the Chinese company Xiaomi, has unveiled a new fast charging technology that can fully charge a phone in less than five minutes.
The company demonstrated the new 300W fast charging technology in a video posted on the Chinese social network (Weibo), where it showed it on a modified version of its Note 12 Discovery phone, which uses a 4100 mAh battery instead of the 4300 mAh one.
The charger in the video is capable of charging half of the phone's battery in two minutes. Within five minutes, the battery reached 100 percent, which is the world's fastest charging rate for a smartphone to date. The new technology beats the company's previous record of charging the original Note 12 Discovery Edition phone in nine minutes at 240W.
The technology also surpasses charging speeds offered by other Chinese manufacturers, including today's Realme GT3, which charges in less than 10 minutes.
The company did not remember when to announce the new charging technology, but it is likely that the feature will be revealed on new phones later this year.
